About Under the Vintage Veil
♥ Under the Vintage Veil, a UK wedding blog, was launched in June 2011 under the name “Shabby Chic Bride”. It was originally just a fun way to document my upcoming wedding to my fiance John in August 2012, but I very quickly fell in love with all things matrimonial – and the wedding industry as a whole. I ended up featuring more and more vintage real weddings, and soon I realised that I wanted the blog to be a vintage blog to focus solely on that niche.
♥ By October 2011, I was so hooked I decided that wedding blogging was the career I never knew I’d dreamed of – and so, using my background in marketing, PR and social media management, I decided to promote the blog as a business.
♥ As well as documenting the process of planning my own wedding (where I’ll be wearing my great grandmother’s veil), this blog is a showcase of vintage-style and rustic chic suppliers, services and real weddings, as well as a safe place to discuss the emotional aspect of getting married and to ask any wedding-related questions.
♥ In December 2011, the blog relaunched as Under the Vintage Veil – a name chosen by Lizzie who suggested it in a blog re-naming competition (and is therefore immortalised on this page!)
About the Author
♥ I’m a 24-year-old bride to be with a love of all things vintage and creative.
♥ I live in Surrey with my fiance, John and four exceptionally mischievous cats. Wouldn’t have it any other way though.
♥ I have a degree in English and a background in marketing, journalism and PR.
♥ I’m terrified of fish. Really.
♥ I’m also slightly terrified of other people, magicians and that thing cats do when they stare at something that isn’t there. And ghosts.
♥ Aside from talking about weddings, I also enjoy singing (badly) and playing piano (even more badly). My lifelong ambitions include getting a novel published and going to Hogwarts.
♥ I’m a bit of an indie fan now – but I once went to two Spice Girls concerts and wanted to marry all the boys in Hanson. Fact.
♥ I have a lot of wonderful friends, and I couldn’t be more grateful for them.
♥ Including English, I can hold a conversation in five languages. Hungarian being one of them. I’m sure my grammar, however, is most amusing to native speakers.
♥ I got into this industry because I wanted to write for a living. And I love people in love. And I love lovely people. Basically I just want to share the love!
