Life is like learning to ride a bike; no matter how many times it hurts when you fall you keep getting back up.
- sums up my life
I’d write: ‘We can dance if we want to’.
I know it may not sound romantic, but I met my fiance at uni, and we used to love going out at the union, often requesting The Safety Dance. It is the song which will guarantee us up on the dancefloor, even if we are the only ones. If one of us hears the song, we’ll run over to the other just to dance with them. It is a bit of a joke with our friends now that my Mr and I will dance regardless of whether anyone else is, and even if there is no dance floor. If we want to dance, we will! And naturally, we will always dance with each other. I’d love to display this on the dance floor at my wedding.
“You are the best one, of the best ones”
It’s a lyric from a Dashboard Confessional song that my almost-husband once (very!) drunkenly told me reminded him of me. I (who wasn’t drunk) laughed at him. I don’t think he’s ever forgiven me. He doesn’t know, but secretly I love it
Wow what a fab idea and fab competition! I would love to win a canvas for my August wedding. I’m not 100 percent sure what our first dance is going to be, but top of the list to date is ‘AMAZING’ by Bruno Mars. I’d love to tie in the first dance to the canvas and think it would look awesome with the lyrics ‘Coz you’re amazing, just the way you are.’ Very appropriate for my other half and he doesn’t even realise it. Xxx
‘I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)’
e.e cummings just hits the nail on the head with this. I think it’s the simplest most beautiful way of describing love. And that’s how I feel about my fiance.
Since the moment I spotted you
Like walking around with little wings on my shoes
My stomach’s filled with the butterfly’s
The above is the first 3 lines to the song that will be the first dance at our wedding which is Santana & Chard Kroeger – Why Don’t You and I
‘I am yours, you can do what you like with me’
This is a line from Fyfe Dangerfield’s song ‘She Needs Me’. My fiance included it in the first ever present he made for me – a CD of songs that made him think about me and us. I had never heard it before and I loved it instantly because it summed up exactly how I feel – which at the point I hadn’t told him. That I do need him, and that is OK, and that at 34 I am eventually able to admit to myself that needing him isn’t a weakness but a source of joy.
He also chose this to play after he proposed to me… Which prompted much bawling, slightly confusing the moment! It will definitely be our first dance for all these reasons which delights me because it’ll be a proper boogie not a slow dance
“It’s you, it’s you, it’s all for you”
From Lana Del Rey, video games. I am just in love with that song right now. It’s hauntingly beautiful and must feature in our wedding somehow.
“Together we can move mountains”
I have been married to my hubbie for 2 years now, together for 11 years in all and have learnt along the way that together we can do anything! x
‘Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow”‘
I love this quote by Mary Anne Radmacher. Sometimes you just need to remember this when times get hard x
What a lovely idea for a business:
Dan and I are getting married on 10th August this year and would love to have a canvas as a focus piece. We would personalise our canvas with the following:
‘I never had someone to sing about, until I met her, each day gets better.’ – John Legend, Each Day Gets Better.
Dan has been learning how to play the guitar since we got engaged so he can serenade me during our big day. I shouldn’t really know but he couldn’t hide his guitar from me. I don’t know what he is singing so that’s the big surprise. The song lyric is from our first dance song and I think it encapsulates the challenge Dan has set himself. I am very proud of him he’s wonderful and cannot wait to be his wife. xx
I love this line from a song by Teddy Thompson-
“someone who turns my bread into buttered toast”
My fiance and i have been to see Teddy live loads of times and i’d love this lyric on a canvas to hang in our kitchen where we spend lots of time cooking, eating and argueing over the washing up! my fiance does keep saying that he wants another of teddys song as our first dance that has the lyrics-i wish it was over i wish we were through, i wish when the phone rang it wasnt always you!” charming!!:-)
‘ Our vivid dreams are just like big production movies, they get entangled well within our daily routines’
This is a line from ‘Anti D’ by the Wombats. Its ‘our’ song after my hubster to be helped me recover from depression last year. I think the above line is a beautiful line, especially as my dreams are spending the rest of my life with him (feel free to vomit now haha) <3 xxx
It’s not always easy and
Sometimes life can be deceiving
I’ll tell you one thing, it’s always better when we’re together
jack johnson better together
my 1st dance song at my wedding 2008 and it always makes me smile when its played
Id write “If I saw the Sun fall down I’d pick it up & make a crown, One that was a perfect fit for you”
Simply because I would do anything for my beautiful little girls.
“NEVER WORRY, NEVER HURRY, JUST STOP AND SMELL THE FLOWERS”
This is how I think, my Beautiful Wife, when I think of you
x
BTW the above box gives a message of ‘Please enter a valid URL’ when I put our website address there???
Mathieu and myself are french so i would write
” Le bonheur le plus doux est celui qu’on partage.” which could be translated as :
” The kindest Happiness is the one you share.”
We also like “Happiness is only real when shared.”
Love your work!
Sandra : )
My husband & I always live by these words, now married 16yrs this year its never failed us!
Never Above You
Never Below You
Aways Beside You
What a fabulous idea!
My Scottish fiance is learning Polish to be able to speak with my family at our wedding, so a few key words relating to our love for each other in Polish would be wonderful, to help him memorise some sweet nothings in my language…A ‘dzien dobry kochanie’ which means ‘good morning my love’ would help to start the day well for us both and will certainly put a spring into my step for years to come
)
It would be words from our first dance…
‘nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it quite the way you do
Baby you’re the best…!
Can’t beat a James Bond classic! We celebrate 5 years this year
“Suppose I never ever met you
Suppose we never fell in love
Suppose I never ever let you
Kiss me so sweet and so soft”
Regina Spektor – Fidelity
I was a stubborn young lady when I first met my Fiance, Dave. I’d been hurt so much by others that I put my guard up and insisted on a proper courtship! 7 years later and we are best friends and very much in love. We get married in June with our two substitute children as guests of honour; our two Mini Schnauzers, Ralphy and George.
The lyrics to this song (a real favourite) are very significant because what if my guard was up to the point of scaring him away? I would have missed the chance to laugh every day and enjoy the rest of my life with him.
It’s a beautiful song, if youre reading this and haven’t heard it then you should!

I would like to win the canvas as a present for my best friend and her fiancée who are getting married this year (he is also a very good friend of mine). As maid of honour I am struggling to find a present that conveys enough sentimentality and that I think they will LOVE and I think this could be it.
As it is not for me it is hard to choose what I would put but I would either go for:
“All that I am, all that I ever was, Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see”
or “If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world” from chasing cars because I remember the song coming out when they were falling in love at university!
xx
Love these canvases. I’d have:
“Hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon”
from The Owl and the Pussycat. I love it – it’s romantic but fun and makes me think of meeting my husband as we were working in Corfu by the sea.
“I love you, you love me, that’s the way it with always be”
This saying has been on a little plaque in my parents bedroom for as long as I can remember, simple but perfect! Would love a sign for our wedding this year! My parents have been together 30 yrs so if they live by this saying so will me and my hubby to be xx
Lay with me, I’ll lay with you
we’ll do the things that lovers do
put the stars into our eyes
so with heart shaped bruises
and late night kisses
devine
It’s from Toothpaste Kisses by the Maccabees it’s mine and my boyfriend’s song and the one we’re intending to have played as we walk back up the aisle as husband and wife in a few years.
We’re moving into our first, unshared, very own flat in 3 weeks and it would be incredible to have this to go on the wall.
xx
“There’s more to life than books, you know… But not much more”
One of my favourite quotes and lyrics from ‘Handsome Devil’ by The Smiths. Would make an amazing gift for a really special bookworm (and Smiths fan!) I know
What a fantastic new company, the canvases are gorgeous!
My heart addicted.. my love is strong…
Your arms I craved and know I belong…
These are my own words from a poem I wrote. I would love to win this as my daughter is about to get married and I cannot think of a better gift than this for their starting home~
“The Future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
One of my favourite quotes that I love and live by
The canvases look gorgeous.
